The walk - you know you are in the right place because you see the old railway as soon as you drive/walk in. Walk over the train track and you will see a big open space with a small play and picnic area on your right. Keep on the path and you will find quite a pleasant, local walk. Be aware that if you go out of school time you will find a few young cyclists around who have got a bit of an assault course going in the dips!
|
The railway & its museum - run by volunteers and open only on certain weekends, look out for signs dotted around the area just before. The railway was built in 1880 for use by the Hunsbury Hill Iron Ore Company but then closed in 1930, when the land went back to agricultural use. The track was therefore left to ruin but is now being brought back to life by the local volunteers.
